Chiclana de la Frontera has an extension of 203 km of which nearly one third is occupied by the Bay of Cádiz Nature Park with its marshes, rivers, streams, dune belts, islets… the perfect combination of land and sea.

Strolling through the center of Chiclana you can understand why it was awarded the Green Flag for Sustainability in 2002. Not far from our main streets you can easily obserce storks swallows, chameleons… And just a stone´s throw away from the city centre you can encounter very different ecosystems (wetlands, rural countryside, pine forests, beaches, etc…)

On the banks of the Iro River, several temporary lakes and ponds form, such as Jeli and Montellano Lagoons which have been declared nature reserves and specially protected areas for the preservation of bird species.
