This suburban park stands out for its perfectly maintained premises and its integration with the town of El Puerto de Santa Maria. As a stone pines forest over coastal dunes, with undergrowth of coast broom and mastic trees (Pistacia lentiscus). A wide variety of fauna is associated with this type of landscape, namely, significant numbers of an endangered species, the common chameleon.

Itt is also an important place for the passage of migratory birds. This 71-hectare ecosystem is set on living cliffs made of very fragile materials such as sand, marl and clay, interspersed with resistant layers of piedra ostionera (a very porous sedimentary rock formed by the remains of seashells and other eroded stones). It all comes together in an interesting coastal landscape in the proximities of the Guadalete River.

The San Antón Dunes are excellent for outdoor leisure activities as it has a recreation area right next to the seaside promenade. As you stroll along the boardwalk you can enjoy magnificent views of the Bay of Cádiz and its coastline. And its location next to La Puntilla beach with its fine, golden sand and nearby Puerto Sherry offer a full range of coastal activities and nautical sports such as sailing, etc.
