Chiclana´s beaches are about 7 km away from the town centre, being one of its major resources, both in terms of tourism and natural beauty. (There is a fantastic view from both beaches of the Island and Castle of Sancti Petri which was, according to legend, the ancient Phoenician temple to their god, Malqart)

LA BARROSA BEACH

The fine, golden sand that spans approximately 6 km has two clearly differentiated stretches in Chiclana. One, with a seaside promenade, is the urban beach equipped with boardwalk, parking areas, restaurants, beach bars, etc and the second, that starts where the promenade ends and goes all the way to la Torre del Puerco, the southernmost point of Chiclana´s shoreline. The latter constitutes a splendid landscape made up of dunes and pine groves, giving it a natural, unspoilt aspect. This area holds the greatest tourist appeal due to the Novo Sancti Petri and Loma de Sancti Petri residential and resort facilities, with 4 and 5-star hotels, golf courses, sports facilities, shopping centres, leisure activities and health and beauty treatment centres.

SANCTI PETRI BEACH

This is considered the town´s most important beach, several kilometres long, separated from the La Barrosabeach by a cliff known as el Farallón de Laja Bermeja. At low tide, you can walk from La Barrosa to Sancti Petri beach. Two stretches are visible from the Farallón de Laja Bermeja (cliff), the man-made jetty at the mouth of the Sancti Petri channel and the unspoilt beaches of outstanding ecological value that stretch almost to the the village of Sancti Petri. Once an ancient tuna-fishing enclave, it is currently undergoing restoration. Of special interest are its fishing port and boat marina and their facilities as well as the companies that offer a wide range of nautical sports such as boat trips, windsurfing, sailing, kayak excursions, etc. not to mention its spectacular sunsets!
