Dating back to the sixteenth century first references attribute its construction to Diego de Riaño. The layout of the church, the apse and the gothic lateral façade of the epistle wall, made of stone, still remain unchanged.

Towards the end of the eighteenth century it underwent a series of reforms that produced its current configuration. The exuberant Baroque decorative style was abandoned to return to more classical lines. To these times belong the main façade, at the back of the church. The new parish was blessed on January 14th 1797. As from this date the work carried out in the church concerned maintenance and ornamentation. Decorative elements centre on the main façade, where we see a copy of the Virgen de la Rosa given that the original, attributed to Pedro de Millán (16th Century), was moved to the interior of the church

Most worthy of mention in the interior is the seventeenth century statue of the virgin the church is named after, Nuestra Señora de la O, an eighteenth century polychrome woodcarving by Manuel García de Santiago, whose iconography makes direct reference to the fertility of the Virgin Mary.

Other interesting features include: the interesting iconography, the nineteenth century choir stalls, the seventeenth to eighteenth century frescos and the nineteenth century clock tower.
