The building was once the convent church of the Discalced Mercedarian nuns, built by the 8th Duke of Medina Sidonia, Manuel Alonso Pérez de Guzmán. Restored in 1992 and refitted as an auditorium, it now hosts a multitude of events as well as cultural and institutional activities.

Of special interest:

  • Proto-baroque façade and altarpiece and Italianised portico.
  • Sculpted figures and plasterwork on the domed vaults.
  • Decorative art on interior portals.
  • Crypt of the Duke under the main altarpiece.
  • Ancient convent cloister
